Seamless video transitions now possible

Cross dissolve adds seamless switching capability for smooth transitions without the need for fading to black.
*Dissolve transitions are possible only with OUTPUT 1.
*On the XS-84H, the same video and audio as OUTPUT 1 is output from OUTPUT 4.
*Cut transitions can be accomplished by setting TRANSITION TIME to 0.0 seconds.

Confident switching for live events

PGM/PST Mode uses OUTPUT 2 as a preview bus to verify the next video source and execute the switch using the "take" function. The PGM/PST Mode also supports cross dissolve transitions from OUTPUT 1. The preview bus also supports the display of a guide that shows the main output's effective display area to ensure that the previewed content is properly sized when sent to the program output.
*PGM uses OUTPUT 1 and PST uses OUTPUT 2. OUTPUT 3 and 4 are quasi-seamless.
*Guide color and thickness can be changed.

Dissolve transition and PGM/PST mode have been added to the features in Version 2.0. In addition to switching the video from OUTPUT1 seamlessly, it also supports for events operation.
*To avoid the interruption of the output signal when changing the mode, OUTPUT 1 SYNC should be set to ON.

Multi-mode allows configuration of multiple PinP (picture in picture) insets that can be resized, repositioned, switched and can also be hidden as needed. An amazing variety of multi-screen video configurations can be created using the XS-Series' powerful video processing capabilities.
*Changing window size individually for each output is not possible.

Matrix configuration for the audio mixer

The built-in 16-channel audio mixer can be set to a matrix configuration, allowing the send level from each input to be set individually to each output. When used in combination with the Audio Follow feature, sophisticated AV systems can be configured.

Smooth mode switching

The ability to synchronize the output resolution of OUTPUTS 2 to 4 to match OUTPUT 1 has been added. For outputs where this SYNC is set to ON, no interruption of the signal occurs even during mode switching. Smooth mode switching allows for the use of different output modes without interruption, in the same environment, thereby expanding creative possibilities.
*Output connectors for which OUTPUT 1 SYNC is set to ON assume the same output resolution as OUTPUT 1.

Expanded lock-out features to prevent unintended operation

A wider choice of individual parameters can now be chosen to be "locked-out" for more finite control over which functions will be not be allowed to be controlled. Cross-point switches can now be locked individually for each output. This can help prevent inadvertent switching during operator control at live events. A function that renders inoperable cross-point switches where no signal is present is also included.

The Roland XS Series Multi-Format Matrix Switchers are designed for fixed installations requiring high-quality integrated video and audio conversion and switching.

The series is very adaptable supporting eight HDMI, RGB/Component/S-video/Composite inputs and up to four HDMI or HDBaseT outputs with scalers to support picture-in-picture, resizing, rotating, and flipping. Audio can be embedded into outputs via eight stereo audio inputs (2 microphone) and/or HDMI audio as well as de-embedded on output. Additional features include iPad control, EDID emulation and HDCP management.

The XS Series is available in three configurations: 8-in x 4-out (XS-84H), 8-in x 3-out (XS-83H), and 8-in x 2-out (XS-82H) and is ideal for many applications that include board rooms, education, 4K switching to 1080p, performing art centers, churches, convention centers and teleconferencing.
