XS-1HD System Program (Ver.1.14)


If you're currently using a version earlier than 1.06
After updating the unit to the most recent version, executing the procedure in "Returning to the Factory Settings (Factory Reset)" to restore settings to their default values is required.
Before carrying out the update, save the settings on a USB flash drive that has been formatted on the XS-1HD.
* Apply the update by carrying out steps 1 through 5 in sequence.

HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the version of the system working on your XS-1HD before downloading the archive file.
 
  1. Connect a monitor to the VIDEO OUTPUT 4 connector.
    The menu appears on the monitor connected to VIDEO OUTPUT 4.
  2. Turn on the power to the XS-1HD.
  3. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the Root Menu screen.
  4. Turn the [ CURSOR ] knob to choose System, and then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  5. Use the [ CURSOR ] knob to display Version.
    The version information screen appears.
* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

  • Fixed an issue where the menu (OSD) would not be displayed on the monitor connected to the VIDEO OUTPUT 4 terminal when starting with an output format other than 1080p.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.
  • Output to a channel different from the one specified by settings occurs at startup of the unit, when changing the mode, and when calling up a memory.
  • On some monitors, during output at 1280 x 1024 or 1366 x 768, the picture takes time to stabilize.
  • In extremely rare cases, the unit sometimes fails to start correctly.
  • The topmost line fails to be captured during 1080i input.

  • When the unit's "HDCP Enable" setting is in effect, on some monitors, some time is required until the picture appears.

Items to prepare for the update
Following items are required to perform the update.
  • XS-1HD itself
  • Video Monitor (equipped with a HDMI input connector)
  • HDMI cable
  • PC to write the updater to the USB Flash Memory
  • USB Flash Memory
    * If the XS-1HD does not recognize the USB flash memory, try using a different USB memory.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND EXPAND THE ARCHIVE FILE
Download the file named "xs1hd_sys_v114.zip".
It is an archive file in zip format, please double click on the file to expand. After expanding the file, the folder "xs1hd_sys_v114" holding the file "XS-1HD.PRG" will be appeared.

HOW TO UPDATE
Please install the system program "XS-1HD.PRG" to the XS-1HD by following the process below.
* While updating the unit, have a monitor connected to the VIDEO OUTPUT 4 connector.
Important notice: Never turn the XS-1HD off during the update process, or XS-1HD won't reboot correctly any more.

The update procedure differs depending on the version currently in use.
If you're using version 1.06 or later
The update can be accomplished by carrying out only Step 3: Updating the XS-1HD.

If you're using a version earlier than 1.06
Apply the update by carrying out steps 1 through 5 in sequence.


Step 1:Formatting a USB Flash Drive
Please refer to the "Formatting a USB Flash Drive" for detailed information in the [ Owner's Manuals ].
  1. Connect the USB flash drive to the USB MEMORY port.
  2. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the Root Menu screen.
  3. Turn the [ CURSOR ] knob to choose File, and then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  4. Turn the [ CURSOR ] knob to choose Format, and then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  5. When the message "USB Memory Format" appears, use the [ CURSOR ] knob to select Execute, then press the [ ENTER ] button.
    The USB flash drive is formatted.
  6. When the message "Completed." appears, press the [ ENTER ] button.
  7. Press the [ MENU ] button several times to close the menu.

Step 2:Saving the XS-1HD's Settings as a File on a USB Flash Drive
Please refer to the "Saving the XS-1HD's Settings as a File on a USB Flash Drive" for detailed information in the [ Owner's Manuals ].
  1. Connect a USB flash drive formatted on the XS-1HD to the USB MEMORY port.
  2. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the Root Menu screen.
  3. Turn the [ CURSOR ] knob to choose File, and then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  4. Use the [ CURSOR ] knob to select the "All Settings" option of Save as (Saving a new settings file) or Save (Overwrite-saving a settings file), then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  5. (If you selected Save as) Set a folder name and press the [ ENTER ] button.
    (If you selected Save) Specify a folder and press the [ ENTER ] button.
    The XS-1HD's settings are saved on the USB flash drive.
  6. When the message "Completed." appears, press the [ ENTER ] button.
  7. Press the [ MENU ] button several times to close the menu.

Step 3:Updating the XS-1HD
  1. Copy the update-use file ( XS-1HD.PRG ) inside the xs1hd_sys_v114 folder to the root directory of the USB Flash Memory.
    * You can use the USB flash drive on which you saved the unit's settings in step 2.
  2. While the power to the XS-1HD is turned off, connect the USB flash drive to the USB MEMORY port.
  3. Hold down [ INPUT 1 ], [ INPUT 3 ], and [ COLOR ] in the XPT4 row and turn on the power.
    * Continue holding down the buttons until the [ ENTER ] button lights up.
    * When the [ ENTER ] button lights up, the message "14:SYSTEM UPDATE" appears on the monitor.
  4. Pressing the [ ENTER ] button starts the update.
    When all five buttons in the XPT1 row light up, the update is complete.
    * When the update is complete, the message "COMPLETE" appears on the monitor.
  5. Turn off the power to the XS-1HD and detach the USB flash drive.
  6. Refer to "How to tell the version" and confirm that the version has been updated to show "1.14 b000."

Step 4:Returning to the Factory Settings (Factory Reset)
Please refer to the "Returning to the Factory Settings (Factory Reset)" for detailed information in the [ Owner's Manuals ].
  1. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the Root Menu screen.
  2. Turn the [ CURSOR ] knob to choose System, and then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  3. Turn the [ CURSOR ] knob to choose Factory Reset, and then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  4. When the message "Factory Reset" appears, use the [ CURSOR ] knob to select Execute, then press the [ ENTER ] button.
    Factory reset is executed.
  5. When the message "Completed." appears, press the [ ENTER ] button.
  6. Press the [ MENU ] button several times to close the menu.

Step 5:Loading Unit Settings Saved on a USB Flash Drive
Please refer to the "Saving the XS-1HD's Settings as a File on a USB Flash Drive" for detailed information in the [ Owner's Manuals ].
  1. Connect the USB flash drive on which the XS-1HD's settings are saved to the USB MEMORY port.
  2. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the Root Menu screen.
  3. Turn the [ CURSOR ] knob to choose File, and then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  4. Use the [ CURSOR ] knob to select the "All Settings" option of Load, then press the [ ENTER ] button.
  5. Select the folder containing the saved settings you want to load, then press the [ ENTER ] button.
    The settings are loaded, overwriting the contents of memory in the XS-1HD.
  6. When the message "Completed." appears, press the [ ENTER ] button.
  7. Press the [ MENU ] button several times to close the menu.

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the XS-1HD. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your XS-1HD while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the XS-1HD won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
