S-4000M System Program (Ver.1.004)
Please refer to the attached document "Process to update the Digital Snake unit" ( S-4000M_update_e1.pdf ) for more information such as the update procedure.
Checking the version number
Before you start, check the system program version of your S-4000M.
- Turn on power of the S-4000M unit.
- Boot up S-4000 RCS.
- Select serial port where the S-4000M unit is connected on serial port selection window of S-4000 RCS.
- Click [Info] button on S-4000 RCS.
The S-4000M Configuration dialog will be displayed.
- Click [Info] button on S-4000M Display. The Device Info dialog will be displayed.
* If you find the version number is the latest one, update process is not necessary.

The following bug was fixed.
- The problem was corrected that when "MUTE ALL OUT" is being executed on a master device connected to port A of the S-4000M and the power to only the master device is reset, the "MUTE ALL OUT" setting of any REAC devices connects to ports 1 through 4 of the S-4000M remains set to "On."

The following bugs were fixed.
- It was corrected that when you removed a REAC equipment connected with S-4000M after executing the "MUTE ALL OUTPUT" command on it, you could not clear mute settings of other REAC equipments connected with S-4000M.
- When both R-1000 and M-48 are connected with the REAC Port A of S-4000M, a noise might occur on the audio signal streaming from S-4000M to R-1000.
What you will need to update your S-4000M
The following products/devices are necessary to carry out the update process.
- S-4000M unit
- S-4000 RCS software (Ver. 2.1 or later)
- Windows PC equipped with serial (RS-232C) port and can run S-4000 RCS software properly.
- Serial cable (The remote cable contained as part of S-4000R accessory or ordinary sold RS-232C cable : D-Sub 9pins, male-female, straight type)
Caution when performing the update
- Never apply this update data to any product other than the S-4000M. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never power-off your S-4000M while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the S-4000M won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
- We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
Getting the update file
Please open/extract the downloaded "s4000m_sys_v1004.zip" file on your computer to get the update files in the "s4000m_sys_v1004" folder.
