Amsterdam January 31st, 2012 – Today at the ISE show, Roland Systems Group announced a new firmware update for their popular S-4000 Series Digital Snake Systems.

New functionality allows the S-4000H 8x32 digital snake head to support samples rates of 48 and 44.1 kHz – in addition to 96kHz. This enables this attractively priced and compact unit be used in V-Mixing System configurations especially as an analog breakout box.

In addition the update provides control of pre-amps of the S-4000S set in REAC Master mode using the S-4000R or S-4000 Remote Control Software (PC/Mac) without the need for slave equipment or the M-48 personal mixers present.  This allows new uses of the digital snake head such as a 40 input front end to a SONAR REAC Recording system – all connected to a PC via a simple Cat5e/6 cable.

The S-4000 Series Digital Snake was the first digital snake system using the REAC protocol - a low latency high quality digital transport system.  The S-4000 Series is a 40x40 channel digital audio transmission system featuring high quality remote controllable microphone preamps and configurable inputs and outputs.

The S-4000 Digital Snake System Version 2.500 firmware update will be available mid-February.  Visit www.rolandsystemsgroup.com/updates and select the digital snake model you are updating.

About S-4000-Series Digital Snake
The S-4000 Digital Snake System is comprised of the S-4000S, which is a modular digital snake stage unit, and the S-4000H unit is typically placed at the FOH position providing outputs from the stage. The S-4000S-3208 is a component of the S-4000 Digital Snake System. It has 32 inputs, 8 outputs and redundant Ethernet connectors. It is typically used on the stage providing 32 mic/line inputs and 8 outputs or returns. Each channel has remotely switchable Phantom Power as well as a 20 dB pad. The professional quality XR-1 mic preamps are remotely controllable in zipperless 1dB steps using the S-4000R Remote Controller or a Mac or PC using the free RCS software. The preamps have been designed for live sound applications and provide superb audio quality with 28 dB of headroom.

The S-4000H is a component of the S-4000 Digital Snake System. It has 8 +4 line level inputs, 32 +4 line level outputs and redundant Ethernet connectors. It is typically used at the Front of House console position providing 32 outputs to the console from the stage sources and 8 inputs or returns from the console’s buses.
